Pharmacological Studies on Puerariae Radix (Ⅰ)

Abstract
|
|
|
Effect of puerariae radix (APR) in the contraction of frog rectus abdominis muscle evoked acetylcholine (Ach) was studied in this experiment.
1. APR diminished the effect of Ach in the contractile force of frog rectus abdominis muscle.
2. Physostigmine did not increase the effect of APR on the contractile action of Ach.
3. Naloxone did not inhibit the effect of APR and morphine on the contractile action of Ach.
4. APR and morphine inhibited the effect of serun on the contractile action of Ach.
From the above results, it is suggested that APR has inhibitory action by direct inhibition of skeletal muscle and APR has morphine-like effect.
